Now when i play sotify on my phone, i'll have to go into the app each time to skip,play or change the track. Meaning, the playback options are not coming on the roll down menu. Usually it stops when i pull out the headphones but its not doing so anymore. It automatically used to when i make a call.
One of the oldest complaints of the Spotify service is that the the client doesn’t let you share your premium account or play music off multiple devices. It's time to change that. Coming next are a few workarounds that will finally let you have two songs on at once!
- How to play music on Spotify. When you opt for a list, simply faucet thereon. You’ll see a button that says Shuffle Play. Use SoundHound to Play Playlists
Since Spotify ended their lyrics partnership with Musixmatch, they've been working to help third party apps detect when it is playing so they can display lyrics for users who still want it.
One such direct partnership is with SoundHound, a Shazam-like music detector that also displays Spotify song lyrics.
But there’s an interesting edge case here. If you have Spotify premium, SoundHound can play your playlists without affecting the Spotify app, so that you can have two devices playing at once.
Over the last month or so Spotify has been skipping, pausing. Android app stutters/crackles frequently. Happens over Bluetooth and through headphones. Here's how.

A playlist running on SoundHound won’t pause Spotify on other devices like normal, so you can have two speakers playing two different songs, but both without ads because they are both using the premium Spotify account.
It’s worth noting that you won’t have access to the full Spotify experience on SoundHound because you can't search for tracks or turn on the high quality audio.
If you want to listen to an individual song on SoundHound, you’ll need to go in to the Spotify client and add the song to new playlist before you can play it on SoundHound.
The SoundHound app is also currently only available for iOS and Android, so this trick won't work between pairs of computers or laptops.
Go Into Offline Mode
If you’re already a Spotify premium user, you should know that Spotify lets you download songs so you can play them offline. However, playing a song in Spotify’s offline mode won't prevent other devices from playing music off your account.
As long as you’re willing to be online on only one of your devices, you can have up to three others playing downloaded music at once.
Step 1. Download the songs to your device. To do this, follow a playlist then hit Download.
Step 2. Turn your Spotify client to offline mode on all but one device. There’s Spotify help page to guide you through it on your device if you don’t know how.
Step 3. Play your music!
Keep in mind that you can only have a maximum of 3,333 songs downloaded across 3 devices, but you can always switch off the download toggle on a few playlists if you get close to the limit.

If you’re trying to play on multiple devices so you can have your songs in multiple rooms, you won’t need the tricks above.
Instead, you’ll want to take a look at Spotify Connect, which lets you play off your speakers using your phone, as well as Spotify’s official list of speakers. Using one of the Spotify speakers, you can link them all to the same audio source to get them all playing at once.
Multiple smart speakers, including Echo Dot and Google Home, can also be connected together.
There’s no need to invest in an entirely new account if you just want to spread the sound across your house!

Even if you don’t have too many devices, you might still find plenty of value in a Spotify family plan.

1. Try to Log out and Log Back In

Every app that you install on your Android smartphone comes with its own set of notification settings that dictates what happens when the phone is locked. Let’s take a look at Spotify notification settings.
Open Settings and then tap on Notifications & status bar. Check that the Show notification icons and Show on Lock screen options are toggled on. Otherwise, you won’t see notifications or shortcuts for any app on the lock screen. Tap on App notifications.
Scroll to the bottom of the screen to find Spotify — the list is always in alphabetical order. Unlike before, these notification settings pertain to the specific app. In this case, Spotify. Make sure that Show notifications and App icon badge is toggled on.
There are two more settings left in the above screenshot. First is Playback which will allow you to control your music on the lock screen. Tap to open it and make sure that Show notifications option is toggled on. Is hulu still free on spotify. Other settings in this screen are optional. Power Saving mode keeps your apps in check and prevents them from consuming too many resources like CPU, GPS, and battery juice unnecessarily when they are not actively being used or when the phone is locked. They can often act like an overprotective parent leading to apps not working correctly.
To check, open Settings and tap on Battery & performance. Again, your smartphone may have slightly different settings (it may be called Battery Optimization instead) depending on your make and model. Tap on Choose apps to configure individual app settings.
Either search for Spotify or open it by scrolling. Tap on it to open. Tap on No restrictions to stop your smartphone from preventing Spotify to function correctly in the background when the phone is locked.
4. Clean Reinstall
Spotify stores all your songs and playlists on its servers, there is no harm in uninstalling the app. But we want to do a clean install. First, log out of Spotify like you did in the first step above. Now open Settings and tap on Installed Apps. Find Spotify and open it.
Tap on Force stop to halt any running activity behind the screen. Tap on Clear data and select Clear all data. That should remove all temporary files and folders from your phone.
Finally, tap on Uninstall on the same screen to remove Spotify from your smartphone. Go back to the Play Store and install Spotify again. See if you can see Spotify music widget on the lock screen now.

The good thing about the Android platform is that it is endlessly customizable. That means there is an app out there that can manage and customize your lock screen.
